iSnap is a block based programming environment which is augmented with detailed logging and intelligent learning support features including on-demand programming hints and feedback. These hints are generated from student data using the SourceCheck algorithm. When students get stuck, and instructors are not available to help, iSnap can check students’ code for errors and offer suggestions for how to move forward. The current aim of our research is to analyze the impact of iSnap’s hints and feedback on student learning, exploring new types of intelligent programming support, and supporting more creative, open-ended programming projects
